{"id":14918,"date":"2026-05-21T13:34:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T11:34:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.olcgs.org\/?p=14918"},"modified":"2026-06-01T18:28:37","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T16:28:37","slug":"fashion-for-compassion-at-maria-droste-counseling-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.olcgs.org\/es\/fashion-for-compassion-at-maria-droste-counseling-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Fashion for Compassion: MDCS Gala Sustains Access to Mental Health Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWhat are we doing in this world, and why are we here, if not to contribute to the well-being of our neighbors?\u201d<\/em> ~ Saint Mary Euphrasia<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>More than 300 supporters gathered in Massachusetts, USA, on May 19, 2026, for <em>Fashion for Compassion<\/em>, the annual fundraising gala benefiting <a href=\"https:\/\/mariadrostecounseling.com\/\">Maria Droste Counseling Services<\/a> (MDCS).<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1992 by Good Shepherd Sister Joanne Westwater, MDCS continues a mission first inspired by St. Mary Euphrasia, one of the founders of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd (OLCGS). Guided by the belief that \u201c<em>a person is of more value than a world<\/em>,\u201d the organization provides professional mental health counseling and holistic therapies to all who seek care, regardless of their ability to pay.<\/p>\n<p>The evening reflected the living spirit of the Good Shepherd mission; a mission carried forward today throughout the U.S. | Toronto Region, and around the world through over 400 ministries which serve girls, women, children, and their families experiencing vulnerability, trauma, poverty, and injustice.<\/p>\n<p>Events like <em>Fashion for Compassion<\/em> are more than celebrations or fundraisers. They are vital opportunities to sustain our Good Shepherd ministries. Through the generosity of donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners-in-mission, organizations like MDCS can continue <strong>to remove barriers to mental health care<\/strong> and offer hope to those who need it most.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025 alone, MDCS provided more than <strong>7,000 counseling sessions<\/strong> and waived over $350,000 in client fees.
