Susan Chia<\/strong> in Luanda, Angola. Her words marked a step from learning in the classroom to preparing something for a customer\u2014a transition that fellow participants were also beginning to make.<\/p>\n<p>For those completing the course, the occasion marked both the end of their training and the beginning of opportunities to use their skills beyond the classroom. <strong>Daniel<\/strong>, their trainer and a longstanding partner-in-mission, reflected on the difference between where participants had started and what they could now do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Today we are grateful because we have reached our goal<\/em>\u201d, afirm\u00f3. \u201c<em>There is a real difference between when participants arrived and when they leave. Many will now be able to make sweets and take orders<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through his work at the center, Daniel helps women and young people develop skills that can open <strong>opportunities for employment<\/strong> and support their families. For the woman announcing her first order, the skills developed during training were becoming something she could offer a customer.<\/p>\n<p>A second participant was also ready to promote her work. \u201c<em>We are now taking orders<\/em>,\u201d she announced, before inviting people to bring their celebrations to life with her sweets: \u201c<em>Let\u2019s sweeten our parties with C\u00e1tia\u2019s charm!<\/em>\u201d Her invitation brought a personal voice to the program\u2019s aim of helping people learn a profession and earn an income.<\/p>\n<p>These brief testimonies reveal a practical milestone. Participants were beginning to present their products, accept requests, and use their skills in situations where they would need to meet customers\u2019 expectations. Located in the Talatona area, the Good Shepherd ministry offers training in sewing and dressmaking, computer skills, English, Excel, hairstyling, and makeup.
