In the Nampula province of Mozambique, a region where girls and women frequently face a lack of opportunity to exercise their rights, the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd has implemented a program to equip vulnerable young women and mothers with the skills needed for a self-sufficient future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Welcome meeting to open the tailoring and literacy courses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In partnership with the German organization Kindermissionwerk<\/a>, this transformative project provides technical training in tailoring, domestic secretarial work, hospitality and tourism, and literacy. The goal is to guide disadvantaged and newly graduated women toward creating their own income-generating businesses<\/strong>, providing them with the professional skills and personal capacity to direct their own life paths. By focusing on these sectors, the program directly addresses poverty and helps participants build sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n

Entrepreneurship and self-employment session<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\"\"The mission’s impact brings life to the entire community<\/strong>, extending beyond the direct beneficiaries to their families and even gaining the attention of the authorities of the Republic of Mozambique. The work of our sisters and partners-in-mission is seen as a crucial collaboration with the government’s commitment to reducing the widespread poverty affecting much of the population in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

This powerful partnership and its remarkable outcomes were recently highlighted at a closing ceremony for 68 program graduates<\/strong>. In a significant gesture of recognition for the work of the Congregation, the First Lady of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Dr. Gueta Selemane Chapo<\/a>\u00a0(pictured below) attended the event in Nampula.<\/p>\n

She celebrated the newly trained young women by generously donating several sewing machine kits and other essential materials to help them launch their new careers. This event not only honored the graduates’ achievements but also reinforced the profound, life-giving impact of the Good Shepherd mission.<\/p>\n
