L' 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence—a powerful global campaign running from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day)—calls us to action in the face of a crisis. In 2022, a woman was intentionally killed by a partner or family member every 11 minutes, underscoring the urgency to end gender-based violence.
This year, the UNiTE campaign centers on the theme “Every [11] Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women,” highlighting the devastating impact of violence on women and girls globally. Nearly one in three women will experience violence in her lifetime, and one in four adolescent girls faces abuse from partners.
To join this critical movement, the Good Shepherd International Justice and Peace Office is leading a social media campaign to showcase missions and projects in the Congregation’s five global Circles: Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America (REAL), and Africa and the Middle East (RIMOA). Each Circle will have three days to highlight their unique initiatives, with an additional day for REAL to announce the winner of its Regional Contest.
We invite you to follow along on our social media channels to witness these powerful stories of change.
