As an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, since 1996, the Congregation has official representation at the United Nations Offices in New York and Geneva. This important engagement is carried out through our Good Shepherd International Justice and Peace team.
Through our status, the Congregation is able to meaningfully participate in UN events. The Team serves as the Congregation’s dedicated entity addressing matters of justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.
Through our advocacy work, informed by our six Position Papers (link), we influence policy on economic, social, and environmental development issues at the highest political levels. We collaborate and network with governmental and non-governmental organizations to promote a universal culture of justice and to advocate for changing policies that exclude, and systems that dehumanize.
