This March, GSIJP joined global advocates in New York for the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), marking 30 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. It was a powerful moment to reflect, recommit, and reimagine a world where girls and women live with dignity, freedom, and opportunity.

In our new report, “CSW69 Through the Lens of Good Shepherd International Justice and Peace: Observations on Advocacy, Policy, and Progress Toward Gender Equality,” we share highlights from our advocacy and reflections on the CSW69 Political Declaration. While we welcomed reaffirmations of gender equality, we also voiced concern about critical gaps, particularly the lack of attention to economic justice and the systemic violence of trafficking and prostitution.

Addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by environmental injustice, our report emphasizes the need for advancing environmental justice through integral ecology. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of humanity and our natural world, advocating for solutions that respect ecological balance while upholding human dignity. By fostering sustainable practices and advocating for systemic change, our report highlights the importance of creating a future where environmental issues do not disproportionately harm marginalized communities.

Another critical focus of our report is the implementation of inclusive economic systems that prioritize human dignity and well-being. These systems aim to bridge gaps in inequality by uplifting the most vulnerable populations and ensuring that socioeconomic structures promote fairness and equity. The report highlights how innovative and inclusive economic practices can empower women and girls, ultimately leading to more sustainable and just communities across the globe.

The GSIJP report concludes with a powerful call to action, urging for collaboration and shared efforts to build a just and equitable world. GSIJP’s work at CSW69 reaffirms our dedication to upholding the dignity, rights, and empowerment of marginalized individuals, particularly women and girls. Stakeholders and partners are encouraged to join our Good Shepherd mission, as collective efforts are key to achieving systemic change.

As the United Nations looks to revitalize the CSW process, we’re calling for greater access and inclusion—especially for grassroots organizations and voices from the Global South. CSW must become a space where everyone, regardless of borders or barriers, can participate and shape policy.

This report is more than a reflection. It’s an invitation to act – together. We remain committed to building a just world where no girl or woman is left behind.
