On August 19, 2026, Sr. Sindy Tal Riz, of the Province of Central America, renewed her vows as a sister of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. At this significant point in her vocational journey, and following her annual retreat, she shares her experience and reflections.
“Six years ago, on July 31, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, I took an important step in my life by entering Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. With gratitude, I can say that I have lived this time sustained by the Grace of God.
Throughout these years, the lived experience of my vocation has been grounded in Jesus the Good Shepherd. In him, my vocation is renewed each day and through every experience. The experience of feeling myself to be a beloved daughter who has received mercy gives meaning to my life and is nourished in times of prayer—prayer that is embodied and shared. I have witnessed the dynamism of the Spirit expressed in communities, in each sister, in the mission, and in formation in different parts of the world.
I have noticed many changes in myself during my formation. I greatly value the way my leadership has been fostered: integral, active, creative, and responsible leadership. This continues to resonate in my life as a set of tools that helps me grow in maturity.
I recognize the invitation of the Good Shepherd to grow and live in love: a love given to Jesus and his Kingdom. I discover him in the different faces I have encountered in mission—faces full of tenderness but also longing for love and justice.
My identity within the Congregation is rooted in the image of the Good Shepherd, and strengthened by our special preference for girls, women, and children. It is there that God’s call and my personal convictions are intertwined, as I strive for a more whole and dignified life for them. I have seen how the Congregational charism and mission unite us, regardless of where in the world I may be. Experiencing realities so different, yet so in need of God, motivates me to bring the presence of Jesus into people’s lives.
God speaks continually, and I wish to remain united with him, so that I may know how to listen to him and respond with trust and love”.
