“Justice is an integral part of our mission of reconciliation…”
(OLCGS Position Papers, 2018)
Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd is proud to unite with the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) to invite the world to observe a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace on August 14, 2025. This initiative arises amidst global crises, leaving millions, especially in conflict zones, grappling with injustice, loss, and suffering. It is rooted in our collective mission to advocate for a universal culture of justice, sustained by Gospel co-responsibility.
The UISG’s profound declaration states, “In a world torn apart by war and inhumanity, we cannot remain silent spectators. Peace must be built—and it must be built together.” Inspired by these words, the Congregational Leadership Team, together with Good Shepherd International Justice and Peace, and Good Shepherd International Foundation, calls on women religious, mission partners, and all those who align with our global mission to walk side by side with the marginalized, advocating for justice and restoring dignity.
Our mission goes beyond words; it is lived through courageous presence. As women religious, together with our global network of mission partners, we dedicate ourselves to standing at society’s frontlines, walking alongside those who suffer, and listening to the cries of the most vulnerable.
Highlighting the significance of August 14, the UISG reminds us that it precedes the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, a symbol of hope who inspires us to approach our shared mission with compassion and perseverance.
On this day, we invite you to pledge action, advocacy, and prayer for a more equitable world. Encourage moments of reflection and open dialogue within your communities and ministries. Appeal to policymakers to commit to reconciliation efforts. And, most importantly, support the humanitarian initiatives offering direct aid to victims of injustice.
Together, we can amplify the voices of those who cry out for peace by joining hands in concrete solidarity as we work to empower lives, uphold rights, and restore dignity.
United in mission,
Congregational Leadership Team
