From May 25 to June 2, 2025, the Congregational Leadership Team (CLT) made an inspiring visit to West Malaysia, starting in Kuala Lumpur and culminating in Sabah.

During their time in Kuala Lumpur, the presence of four CLT members, Sisters Joan Marie Lopez, François Mestry, Josita Corera, and Yolanda Sanchez, transformed ordinary moments into extraordinary encounters of grace and communion. Their visit echoed the bond of Mary and Elizabeth in scripture but on a broader scale, as their presence immersed the community with a sense of connection and purpose. This gathering also welcomed sisters from Johor, strengthening the bonds of our local communities.

While brief, the visit was marked by both meaningful formal engagements and spontaneous moments of connection. One of the most heartening aspects of the visit was the informal moments of sharing when sisters and partners-in-mission shared simple conversations over communal meals. The leadership received the precious gift of hearing the stories of what moves and sustains our partners-in-mission in their ministries, whether with Global Shepherds, Good Shepherd Services, o Good Shepherd Villamaria Kindergarten and Nursery. Each voice offered a glimpse into the spiritual fuel that keeps their hearts aflame for the mission, with one partner sharing, “What energizes me is the Culture of the Good Shepherd."

A Memorable Dialogue in Ipoh

On May 27, the Ipoh convent hosted about 50 partners-in-mission and benefactors for a lively dialogue session. This gathering underlined the pivotal role of partners-in-mission in advancing the Good Shepherd mission in Malaysia. Reflecting on the discussion, Martin Jalleh of Ipoh commented, “Each of us, as ripples of hope, create a far-reaching and transformative impact that culminates in an ocean of change. I realized we have been living out Synodality, a way of walking together with a spirit of communion and collaboration.''

Participants expressed pride and gratitude for the humility and collaborative spirit of the congregational leaders. Stephanie Yeap remarked on the sisters’ dedication to addressing critical issues like human trafficking, saying, “I am touched by their humility and the willingness to answer all our questions. It’s a privilege to contribute, in my small way, to this noble mission."

Another participant, Liley Roy, highlighted the meaningful exchanges during the visit, saying, “I felt deeply inspired by how the mission has grown and by the passion behind it. I’m proud to be part of something so special."

The visit highlighted the strengthening of unity and regional cooperation within Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. Conversations with partners-in-mission underscored their essential roles and demonstrated how la misión‑focused collaboration drives meaningful change.

The CLT’s visit was a reminder of the power of connection, grace, and shared mission that transcends boundaries. It strengthened the shared sense of purpose for the mission and left an indelible mark on all who participated.
