The devastating 𝟕.𝟕-𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 that struck 𝐌𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫 and 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 this morning, causing widespread destruction, has left countless individuals and communities shaken, and we are still working to understand the full scope of its impact.
We have received an update from the Unit Leader of East Asia, who has informed us that 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬-𝐢𝐧-𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 – although serval community and project buildings have suffered damage (see pictures). They all remain in the street in 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤, 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 to reenter the buildings.
The safety and well-being of those we serve in Myanmar and Thailand through our Good Shepherd mission are of paramount concern at this time. This includes many families now facing 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲.
We ask you to join us in prayer for everyone in Myanmar, Thailand, and neighboring regions impacted by this earthquake.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in contact with our sisters and partners on the ground as they assess the most 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬. Further updates will be shared as soon as additional information becomes available.
