On November 1, 2025, the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd concluded an extraordinary year marking the bicentenary of the foundation of the Contemplative Sisters by Saint Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in Tours, France, in 1825.
This event joyfully brought to a close a year of spiritual and festive celebrations, open to all who wished to share and discover the richness of the contemplative sisters’ spiritual heritage.
In Angers, sisters, friends, partners, and parishioners gathered on November 1 to celebrate this bicentenary together. On this occasion, more than 200 people assembled in the large chapel of the Motherhouse for an Eucharistic celebration led by Father Jean-Michel Amouriaux, Superior General of the Eudists, and Father François Richer, priest of the Saint-Jacques parish.

Several highlights marked this festive day: a convivial meal, the unveiling of the sculpture Bearer of Hope, and a musical and theatrical performance — an original creation by Matthieu Repussard and Vincent Drouin — that invited the audience to encounter four deeply authentic characters, like a heartfelt confidence shared with the spectators. Musical interludes, performed by a choir accompanied by the chapel’s organ, enriched the presentation.
These events reflect the Congregation’s desire to honor its origins while bearing witness to its continuing vitality and commitment within the contemporary world.
