By the Communications Team for the Sector of Angola/Mozambique
As part of the regionalization process, as called for in the Nueva Estructura de Gobierno, the leadership team of the Region of Africa* met in person for the first time at Casa do Senhor in Luanda, Angola, from February 23 to March 2, 2026.
This meeting aimed to strengthen bonds, foster mutual understanding, and deepen knowledge about Angola — our geographical reality, mission, apostolates, partnerships, and the economic, social, political, cultural, religious, and environmental challenges, as well as other shared experiences.

Guided by dialogue and teamwork, the sisters of the leadership team worked intensively, reflecting on the what, who, how, where, when, duration, and resources of the future Region of Africa, thus shaping the new renewal that we are called to embrace, with a view to preparing the pre-regional chapter, scheduled from July 31 to August 2, 2026, and subsequent regional and congregational chapters.
As part of the program, two days were dedicated to visiting the communities and apostolates across the country at Kicolo, Samba Cajú and Camabatela. During their visit to Saint John Eudes School, our apostolate in Kicolo, the leadership team learned about a recent initiative by our partners-in-mission.

In response to a national blood donation campaign and the specific critical situation at the nearby Cardinal Dom Nascimento Hospital, where children in operating rooms were facing difficulties due to a lack of blood, partners mobilized sisters, other partners, parish members, and school staff to donate blood in the hope of saving lives.

"It was a unique experience,” expressed Sister Cristina Tchimulenga. “I witnessed the joy on the faces of our partners-in-mission as they gave blood. Many spoke the words of Saint Mary Euphrasia: ‘A person is worth more than the world’ – which was repeated by many of the doctors and technicians present in the room.”
This was a wonderful opportunity for the leadership team to witness how the mercy of Jesus the Good Shepherd, the zeal of Saint Mary Euphrasia, and the compassion of Saint John Eudes beat in the very veins of our sisters and partners-in-mission.
“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
As the visit came to its end and before returning to their respective units, the leadership team spoke of how grateful they were to witness the lived expression of the Good Shepherd mission as we continue to embrace the whole world, listen to what they shared in the video below.
*The new Region of Africa will be composed of the following countries: South Sudan, DR Congo, Uganda, and Kenya (ECAP), Angola, and Mozambique (SAM), Senegal, Burkina Faso, and South Africa.
